Livelihood Adaptation of Rural Households under Livelihood Stress: Evidence from Sichuan Province, China

The welfare of many poor and low-income rural households is vulnerable to earthquakes secondary geological disasters. academic literature, however, pays little attention the livelihood pressure, adaptability, strategies these households. Based on survey data 327 in Wenchuan Lushan earthquake-stricken areas Sichuan Province, strategy characteristics were analyzed, disordered multi-classification logistic regression model was constructed explore correlation between above-mentioned variables. results show that: (1) Rural face greatest economic pressure least social pressure; have strongest adaptability capital lowest financial capital. proportion that chose aid highest, while adjustment lowest. (2) Compared with expanded strategy, (a) When health higher, are more inclined choose followed by contractive and, finally, strategies; (b), higher physical capital, often tend compared strategy; (c), farm households, they prefer (d), greater strategy.This study can provide a reference for establishment relevant policies related adaptation capacity earthquake hazard zone.
